A Word of Welcome

Thank for you stopping by!

Late for Supper is my attempt to introduce Catholics and others who might be interested in my reasons for coming into the Catholic Church. As I have often said (and many converts before me have echoed as well), my journey from the Evangelical Christian church is not one filled with sadness or bitterness, but rather gratitude and joy. In short, my 33 years in the Evangelical Christian church was one filled with countless blessings, most importantly the forging of a powerful, personal, and life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ for which I will be eternally grateful (literally).

My journey to Catholicism was one that I never expected to take. Yet, in my desire to be faithful to the Scriptures, history, and my own conscience, I had no other choice. The journey was, initially, very difficult, but soon became the “home coming” that so many converts speak of.

Many of you first met me at a concert or on video at “The Donut Man”, my alter ego and full-time ministry for the past 20 years. It’s a ministry I love and, God willing, will continue to do until I draw my last breath. I will still perform at Evangelical Christian (and other) churches because young kids will always need to hear about the love of God—whether they be Catholic, Protestant or come from families with no faith at all. I am fortunate that, to date, no Evangelical Church has rescinded an offer to speak. They seem to realize that, despite the beliefs I now hold, my message for the young people is universally Christian. That said, now that I have what I believe is a fuller understanding of the historic Christian faith, my Catholic performances (which have been part of my ministry for nearly 20 years), will now include distinctly Catholic content. From what people have been telling me, the new music and songs will be very well received.

So, I hope you enjoy some of the offerings here, including the somewhat brief overview of my conversion (10,000 words is brief when compared to most normal size books). Please also visit my main website, http://www.donutman.com/ to find out more about my apostolate (that’s a new word now in my lexicon. For any Evangelical Christians reading this, that’s Catholic talk for “ministry”).

In the meantime, you can write to me on my other website, rob@donutman.com for comments and (hopefully) encouragement and suggestions.

In Christ Jesus,

Rob Evans
